A lot of getting 'your own sound' comes after much trail-and-error - sometimes years' worth! So - keep experimenting!
In the band years' ago, we used to laff at a term Clapton used to use for some of his warm fuzzy solos, called "Woman Tone". Basically, it's just all the tops rolled-off his guitar - like, the tone turned to zero with a big warm fuzzy distortion! Lots of fun to play with, with the neck pickup.
